Each year, the community of Elk Grove Village nominates and recognizes manufacturers for excellence in Community Support, Sustainability, and Innovation. This year, Governor Bruce Rauner and United States Conference of Mayors representative Jeff Bean, participated during the award announcements, showing support for the winning manufacturing companies.
Excellence in Community Support - MET Plastics
The 2015 Excellence in Community Support award goes to MET Plastics, a manufacturer of plastic injection molds and plastic molded devices. President Mike Walter was recognized for his donation of over $20,000 of equipment to Elk Grove High School's Advanced Manufacturing Program, including two manual mills and an electric discharge machine.

Excellence in Sustainability goes to FPM Heat Treating. FPM holds the only license in North America for NitrotecTM, an environmentally friendly plating process. Director of Sales and Marketing, Jim Feltner, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

Excellence in Innovation - HST Materials
The 2015 Excellence in Innovation Award goes to HST Materials, a fabricator of rubber, plastic, and tape material. HST tasked interns with developing a noise reduction system for their manufacturing processes, which successfully reduced decibel levels and ultimately made the company's work environment safer.
